Digger heroes during Cumbria floods

Three digger drivers became the heroes of the flooded village of Glenridding.
As homes and businesses were flooded out Robert Morris-Eyton, his son Patrick and Robert Butler abandoned their paid construction work and drove their JCBs into the valley to help its stricken residents.
Through the the night with their diggers perched precariously on the side of Glendridding Beck they scooped rocks and debris from the water to allow the torrent to pass. (more)
